What Are the Types of Adoption?

In an open adoption the birth mother determines the type of family she considers best for her baby. She will meet with the adopting parents and share information openly. It is a life-long contract.

In a semi-open adoption, the birth mother may request some specific characteristics for placement. The birth mother may expect to receive photos and news as the years progress.

In a closed adoption, the birth parent has no control over the placement of her child and will not expect news or photos over the years. In return, the child's social history is kept hidden from the adopting parents.

Our attorneys can help you with any type of adoption. Contact us to start the process right.
