Madeline Loving grew up outside Nashville, Tennessee where she excelled in youth government programs, mock trial, show chorus and equestrian sports. In 2017, she graduated early after earning her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in public administration and economics. Shortly thereafter in 2021, she earned her Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, focusing on criminal defense law. In both college and law school, she completed independent studies on geographical disparities in federal courts’ application of the sentencing guidelines.
Loving began her legal career at the age of fifteen, when she secured her first legal internship. Prior to attending law school and for much of her time in Knoxville, Loving worked in real estate law and real property transactions for a small, local firm. Loving began her trial experience in law school as an LASC Rule XX Student Attorney, where she successfully represented juveniles in criminal defense matters.
Loving re-located to Virginia Beach after law school with her partner, James, and their two dogs – Penny the Bernedoodle, and Ike the Morkie.
